Climate Power Announces Six-Figure Ad Buy Focused on Affordability Ahead of Trump’s State of the Union Speech

Washington, DC – As Donald Trump prepares for his State of the Union address, Climate Power is launching a six-figure ad buy to highlight how Trump and Republicans have made life more expensive for Americans, despite their claims otherwise.
The new ad — “In the Real World” — will hold Trump and Republicans accountable for driving up costs and making the affordability crisis worse for American families. Trump promised to cut energy costs in half in his first year, but utility bills have spiked 13% since he took office. While Trump claims that he “won” on affordability, families are burdened by more expensive groceries, utility bills, and health care.
“In Trump’s world, the economy is booming and the affordability crisis is a ‘hoax’. But in the real world, Americans are opening higher utility bills every month thanks to his reckless policies,” said Climate Power Senior Advisor Alex Witt. “Whether it’s clearing the way for his oil and gas donors to rake in huge profits by taking clean energy competition off the grid or giving corporate polluters free rein to make Americans sicker, Trump has always put billionaires ahead of the American people. While Trump makes his billionaire buddies richer, he has done nothing to lower costs for American families.”
