Washington, DC – One month after Republicans were soundly rejected at the ballot box, Donald Trump is gaslighting the American people by claiming that electricity prices are “going down” and that the affordability crisis he created is a “scam.” But household electricity prices have increased by 13% since he took office, and life is more expensive thanks to Trump’s reckless policies. 

In a warning sign for Republicans running in 2026, Democrats in ruby red Tennessee overperformed last night by focusing on affordability and rising energy costs. As long as Trump continues to ignore the reality of his self-inflicted energy crisis, Republicans will pay the political price.
