Trump Administration Continues to Deflect Blame for the Energy Affordability Crisis That They Created

Energy analysts warned that the supply chain shock from the Strait of Hormuz closure and damage to oil and gas facilities could affect energy prices through 2027

Americans have now spent nearly $20 billion more at the pump and inflation is skyrocketing thanks to Trump’s war

Washington, DC – We’re more than a month into Trump’s war of choice in Iran and his administration is desperately trying to point fingers at anyone but themselves for kickstarting a global energy crisis. But the truth could not be more obvious: Trump chose to attack Iran, immediately closing the Strait of Hormuz and effectively bringing access to the world’s oil supply to a grinding halt. Even Energy Secretary Chris Wright admitted that energy prices will continue rising as long as the Strait is closed. And with no real plan to open it back up, it’s anyone’s guess how long that will be.

Trump promised to bring costs down and “no more wars”, but he’s failed to deliver on both. Now, Trump and Republicans are throwing every excuse they have at the American people to see what sticks. But with 60% of voters blaming Republicans for skyrocketing gas prices, they aren’t buying their spin. With the midterm elections just months away and not even a semblance of a plan to deliver relief for Americans, we’ve got news for Trump, Vance and Republicans: The clock is ticking.
