Hurricanes And Tropical Storms
- A second person has died in Vermont in the flooding from Hurricane Beryl’s remnants.
- In Vermont, more than 100 people were rescued by swift-water teams during the worst of the rainfall, which started Wednesday and continued into Thursday.
- In Plainfield, Vermont, a concrete bridge that collapsed and tumbled downstream was likely responsible for ripping off part of an apartment building with five units.

Extreme Heat

- Last week, a 4-month-old baby died in Arizona after suffering a heat-related illness while on a boat.
- Las Vegas, Nevada, hit its sixth day in a row of temperatures at or above 115 degrees as the city soared to a scorching 118 degrees on Thursday.
- This weekend, the worst of the heat will stretch from the Southwest into the Rockies and the Plains.
