As of Friday morning, Tropical Storm Philippe was located about 195 miles south of Bermuda, packing maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour and tracking north at around 18 mph.
Philippe was forecast to pick up speed before reaching the coast of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or eastern Maine Saturday night into Sunday.
Philippe will combine with a cold front to drench the Northeast and deliver gusty winds to parts of New England this weekend.
1 to 3 inches of rainfall, with local amounts of 5 inches, were expected in parts of New York and New England, with the National Hurricane Center warning of “isolated to scattered instances of urban and flash flooding.”
Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are likely in Maine, with potential for stronger gusts on the coast.

Continued high temperatures in Phoenix could once again break records this weekend, with several days of 100 degree plus temperatures forecast.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, a heat advisory was extended through Friday evening as temperatures could reach the low 100s. Low humidity will also contribute to elevated fire risks in the area.
