Washington, D.C. – Republicans who represent districts in the states targeted by Trump’s OMB director and Project 2025 architect, Russ Vought, are going to have to explain to their constituents why they allowed Trump to use more than $3 billion in investment in their districts as bargaining chips in shutdown negotiations. This announcement shows that Trump is willing to hurt all Americans, regardless of their political party, if it means he can score political points with his billionaire buddies.
“Skyrocketing utility bills are stretching family budgets to the breaking point, and now instead of negotiating a bipartisan agreement to open the government, Trump is punishing American families by killing local energy projects and raising their costs even more,” said Climate Power Senior Advisor Jesse Lee. “The question is: will these Republicans finally do the right thing and choose the working families they are paid to represent over the billionaires that funded Donald Trump’s campaign?”
Examples of cancelled projects in GOP districts include:
- AZ-06 (Representative Juan Ciscomani): 1 project representing $2,053,837 in investments
- CO-08 (Representative Gabe Evans): 2 projects representing $33,124,821 in investments
- CO-03 (Representative Jeff Hurd): 2 projects representing $120,000,000 in investments
- CA-40 (Representative Young Kim): 1 project representing $1,200,000,000 in investments
- NY-17 (Representative Mike Lawler): 2 projects representing $26,236,446 in investments
- CA-22 (Representative David G. Valadao): 2 projects representing $3,999,845 in investments
