Trump’s War in Iran Causes Diesel Price To Hit Another All-Time High

At $6.51 a gallon, diesel prices recorded the highest average price EVER today — after hitting historic benchmarks multiple times over the last few weeks — and American truckers, farmers, and consumers are paying the price
Washington, DC – Diesel prices hit the highest recorded average price of all time today, at $6.51 a gallon. This astronomical surge is a direct result of Trump’s war of choice in Iran, which has caused diesel prices to increase by nearly three dollars since a year ago. As of September 11, Americans have spent over $121 billion more on energy since the war started, amounting to roughly $930 per household.
Diesel is a primary fuel source for the trucking industry, and many truck drivers are being forced to quit as a result of Trump’s diesel prices. American farmers also rely on diesel to fuel their combines, and high prices in the height of harvest season are squeezing already thin margins. To top it off, these prices are also impacting American families’ pocketbooks, with groceries and utility bills set to rise with no end in sight.

Instead of looking out for working-class Americans like they promised, Trump and Republicans are screwing us over – advancing a war that is deeply unpopular with Americans and disrupting prices across the economy.
These record-breaking diesel prices highlight a recent Climate Power and Center for American Progress Action Fund report that found that Trump-GOP policies have cost American families at least $2,000 through skyrocketing gas prices, utility bills, and essential goods, a total that rises to more than $3,500 for families with ACA marketplace coverage.
