ICYMI: NC Rep. Greg Murphy Expects Americans To Endure “Tough Times” As Gas & Diesel Prices Remain High

RALEIGH, N.C. — GOP Candidate for NC-03 Greg Murphy appeared on NewsMax’s Wake Up Early America this week to defend the Trump administration and GOP policies with a sobering message for Americans and North Carolinians, sharing that “tough times need to be gone through to get to good times.” However, he offered no solutions to North Carolina families suffering from high prices. This comes as gas in North Carolina sits at $4.05 and diesel is $6.09. According to the 2022 Agricultural Census, NC-03 accounts for 34% of North Carolina’s agricultural sales, and these record high diesel prices impact farmers’ bottom lines and families’ grocery costs.
Recent analysis from Climate Power and the Center for American Progress Action Fund found that Trump-GOP policies have cost American families at least $2,000 more through the first half of this year through surging gas prices, utility bills, and essential goods. Since Trump took office, household electricity costs in North Carolina have increased by 21%. Trump’s war of choice in Iran has raised fuel costs in North Carolina’s 3rd district by $688 since the start of the war, and his energy policies have raised utility costs in North Carolina by $91 through the first half of 2026.
Climate Power North Carolina State Director Terryn Hall:
“For Greg Murphy to ask North Carolina families to endure more financial pain while offering no relief is truly unconscionable. We deserve leaders who will fight to make their lives better, not make excuses for the Trump administration’s reckless policies.”
