Farmers Can’t Afford Mike Rogers or Donald Trump’s Disastrous Wars on Iran, Trade, and Clean Energy

Saginaw, Mich. – As Mike Rogers holds a campaign event in Saginaw this afternoon, farmers across Michigan are grappling with the economic devastation of Donald Trump’s disastrous wars on Iran, trade, and clean energy.
Climate Power Michigan Director Tom Lenard issued the following statement:
“Michigan farmers don’t want empty campaign promises or election year handouts from Mike Rogers and Donald Trump. They deserve real solutions that keep their energy prices down, allow them to earn a good living trading their products, and protect their farmland from pollution and dirty data centers. Farmers aren’t going to be fooled about why they are feeling the pain they are right now – it’s thanks to Donald Trump and Mike Rogers’ failed leadership.”
Thanks to Mike Rogers and Donald Trump:
- Taxpayers are spending more than $43 billion on the war with Iran that’s driving up diesel costs and making fertilizer harder to come by.
- Cleaner, cheaper energy is being taken away because of the 2025 budget bill, including support for farmers to invest in cheaper renewable energy.
- The trade war is crushing Michigan farmers, with tariffs resulting in more expensive supplies and equipment.
- Unregulated data centers are a threat to farmland because Donald Trump believes anyone who opposes them will end up “backwards and poor”, and Elon Musk— who is spending over a million dollars to help get Mike Rogers elected—thinks there should be no regulations.
