At Trump’s Dalton Rally, Collins and Jackson Cheer on the Agenda Driving Record Gas Prices — While Georgia Families Pay the Bill

Dalton, GA — Today, Mike Collins and Rick Jackson joined President Trump in Dalton, Georgia — where truckers and manufacturers are being crushed by record diesel prices — to celebrate the agenda driving those costs through the roof. Collins has voted seven times in support of Trump’s war in Iran, repeatedly claiming gas prices are coming down despite Georgians paying an extra $2.1 billion at the pump since the war began.
Meanwhile, Rick Jackson — who bragged about owning an oil refinery when asked about soaring gas prices and admitted to personally profiting from Trump’s tariffs — acknowledged today that gas prices are spiking. But neither candidate has a plan to address the root cause: Trump’s war of choice in Iran.
Climate Power Georgia State Director Mark McLaurin issued the following statement:
“While Georgia families pay record prices at the pump, Mike Collins and Rick Jackson cheered on Donald Trump’s agenda driving up the cost of energy, gas and groceries. Collins has voted seven times in support of the war, sending diesel to record highs, then told Georgians gas prices are coming down ‘fast.’ Rick Jackson bragged about owning an oil refinery when asked about soaring gas prices, admitted he’s personally profiting from Trump’s tariffs, and promised to be ‘Trump, but with a Southern tone.’ Georgia families deserve leaders who will fight to lower their costs — not ones who profit from the agenda driving them up.”
Collins and Jackson can’t run from their records:
- Georgians have already paid an extra $2.1 billion for gas since Trump launched his war of choice in Iran, with each household spending roughly $818 more at the pump than they otherwise would have — and Collins has voted seven times in support of that war.
- Collins was caught on video claiming gas prices are coming down “fast” — then repeated the claim at two debates — even as diesel prices hit record highs and Georgia truckers are being squeezed out of the industry.
- Jackson acknowledged today that gas prices are spiking — but supported the war causing them. When asked about soaring gas prices on the campaign trail, Jackson bragged about owning an oil refinery — and has admitted to personally profiting from Trump’s tariffs driving up costs for Georgia families.
- Collins said that “President Trump’s tariff strategy works” and that he’s “not worried” about the tariffs crushing Georgia families — even as ground beef and coffee are up 30% since Trump took office.
- Collins voted for the 2025 budget bill that handed billions to data center developers at the same time it slashed Medicaid and doubled health insurance premiums for Georgia families. Georgia families could see utility bill increases of up to 11% per month by 2028 to cover the cost of powering those same data centers.
- Jackson’s own firm was linked to a nearly 600-acre, $6 billion data center project in Bowie County, Texas, developed under a confidentiality provision that kept local residents in the dark — even as he promised Georgians local control over data center decisions.
- Collins talks about “energy independence,” but he has taken more than $130,000 from the oil and gas industry over his career.
- Trump and Congressional Republicans’ attacks on clean energy have jeopardized 3,492 jobs in Georgia and over $3.9 billion in investments.
- Between higher gas prices, utility bills, and tariffs, Trump’s policies have already cost the average Georgia family an extra $2,017 through the first half of 2026 — and Collins has voted for every policy driving those costs higher.
