Trump Denies Climate Change in Milwaukee as VP Candidates Debate Climate and Clean Energy

Milwaukee, WI— Donald Trump visited Milwaukee earlier this evening where he went out of his way to deny the existence of climate change. Shortly after, in the Vice Presidential debate, JD Vance spewed climate conspiracies and dangerous lies, while Tim Walz laid out how a Harris-Walz administration will mitigate climate disasters like Hurricane Helene and invest in good-paying clean energy jobs that families can rely on.

Trump has spent the last week priming the pump for his Big Oil fundraisers in Texas tomorrow. Last week, JD Vance attended two Big Oil fundraisers in Texas. Oil and Gas industry donors have pumped over $14 million into the election to support Trump this election cycle.

Earlier this year, Trump asked Big Oil CEOs for $1 billion to help him get back into office while promising he’d deliver their entire policy wish list. Trump framed his offer as a ‘deal’ for Big Oil, and he was right: analysis shows they’d get $110 billion in tax breaks alone – a 11,000% return on investment.

65% of Wisconsin voters say climate change and clean energy will be important to their vote this November, including 78% of voters aged 18-34.

Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote for the clean energy plan, which is projected to triple clean energy production and will help Americans save $38 billion on electricity bills. In 2023 alone, the clean energy plan saved families $8.4 billion in tax credits to lower the costs of clean energy and energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. In Wisconsin, 73,250 Wisconsin households saved over $91 million in residential clean energy credits.

The contrast is clear: Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will take climate action and lower costs for families. Donald Trump and JD Vance, on the other hand, will prioritize Big Oil’s interests over those of the American people.
