As Americans Prepare for Hurricane Helene, Vance Rushes to Florida to Raise Money

Washington, D.C. – Time and time again, Donald Trump and JD Vance have proven that they’ll always put their Project 2025 agenda and Big Oil’s bottom line over hard-working Americans. As residents across Florida and the Southeast brace for the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene, JD Vance rushed to Florida to raise money.
Project 2025 was authored by climate deniers like Heritage Foundation head Kevin Roberts, who just this week had the audacity to use a Climate Week event sponsored by The New York Times to spread debunked anti-science misinformation, saying that climate change-fueled disasters “sounds like weather to me.” This Big Oil-backed agenda would make it more difficult for the government to respond to weather disasters like Hurricane Helene and force Americans to pay money for lifesaving and currently free weather alerts.
Climate Power Communications Director Alex Glass issued the following statement:
“As Floridians are scrambling to keep their families and homes safe, JD Vance raced down to the state to raise a little cash. Vance and Trump are ready to implement Project 2025 —and make Americans pay to get the lifesaving weather alerts that residents across the southeast are currently using to make safety decisions. Extreme weather is dangerous and fueled by Big Oil – Trump and Vance would pad the fossil fuel industry’s bottom line at the expense of Americans’ safety and economic security.”
