Bob Harvie Triumphs Over Brian Fitzpatrick: Republicans’ Disastrous Energy Policy Cost Them Election

Bucks County, PA — Tonight, Democrat Bob Harvie defeated incumbent Republican Representative Brian Fitzpatrick in a victory for the people of Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District. By electing Harvie to Congress, Pennsylvanians made their disapproval of Republicans’ energy policy known: from the war in Iran that is driving up gas and diesel prices, to the clean energy cuts and data centers with no guardrails that drove up utility bills. In Pennsylvania, more than half of registered voters said it was “very difficult” or “somewhat difficult” to pay for monthly utility costs, surpassing all other costs as the topic of most difficulty and concern.
While Fitzpatrick attempted to distance himself from Trump and his fellow Republicans’ anti-affordability energy agenda, voters — fed up with skyrocketing gas prices and persistently high utility bills — decided enough was enough.
“The people of Pennsylvania deserve leaders who are looking out for us and ensuring that we can afford to fill our gas tank and keep our lights on, and that’s why voters in Pennsylvania’s 1st District elected Bob Harvie,” said Climate Power’s Pennsylvania Director Abby Cox. “Brian Fitzpatrick is paying the price for his continued alignment with the Republican Party. Pennsylvanians need relief from skyrocketing prices, and Bob Harvie will work to bring down costs for all of us.”
