Boo! In Haunting Turn of Events, Bo French Ghosts Jon Rosenthal on Planned Texas Railroad Commissioner Debate

HOUSTON—After gearing up for a debate against Democratic nominee Rep. Jon Rosenthal, the Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner has ghosted and is now unabashedly lying about agreeing to it in the first place. Bo French caught national attention in September of this year when he tweeted a xenophobic comment about the students attending a University of Texas football game.
French has made it clear that he thinks the Texas Railroad Commission should stand aside so billionaire oil and gas industry executives can grow, unfettered by the common-sense guardrails that Texas has in place. Those billionaire oil executives are already making billions more. Since the Iran War was launched, Texans have paid an extra $1,194 in fuel costs alone.
Democratic candidate Jon Rosenthal stands for putting working Texans, including those working in the oil and gas industry, ahead of billionaire CEOs. He wants to turbo-charge the plugging of abandoned oil wells and implement consumer protections on gas rates so customers don’t have to take on companies’ storm costs. He also wants to hold huge polluters accountable so that previous oil well owners can’t just walk away from cleanup costs when wells leak and pollute the area.
“Bo French may have been spooked from taking the debate stage, but we already knew where his priorities lay: spewing extremist, hateful commentary and lining the pockets of his oil and gas billionaire puppet masters at the expense of working Texans,” said Climate Power Senior Advisor Jesse Lee.
