Chevron, ExxonMobil Announce Over 7.7 Billion in Profits; Campaign Donations Flowing to Rep. Buddy Carter While Georgians Feel the Pain at the Pump

Atlanta, GA — Chevron and ExxonMobil just reported $2.8 billion and $4.9 billion in profits, respectively, in the first part of this year, as Georgians continue to feel the pain at the pump from Trump’s war of choice. Rep. Buddy Carter, who has received $33,500 in contributions from Chevron and ExxonMobil since 2017, continues to rubber stamp all of Trump’s fossil fuel-friendly policies. As utility bills and gas prices continue to rise and strain working families, Congressional Republicans have continued to advance the interests of oil and gas companies — and they show no signs of slowing down despite the industry posting massive profits amid an ongoing affordability crisis.
In 2024, Trump promised his Big Oil donors — including Chevron — that he would enact policies helpful to their bottom line as he asked for $1 billion in campaign donations. Trump’s war of choice in Iran, attacks on clean energy investments, and decimation of pollution protections have all been a boon to Big Oil, making way for record-breaking windfalls for his wealthy oil supporters. Oil and gas companies could reap a $60 billion windfall from the “Trump Oil Shock,” which generated more than $30 million in profits for big oil every hour during the first month of the war.
“While Trump’s Big Oil cronies capitalize on the global economic crisis, Georgia families are left to foot the bill,” said Mark McLaurin, Georgia State Director. “We need elected officials who are looking out for hardworking Georgians–not looking out for Big Oil donors.”
Gas prices have topped $4 per gallon nationally, with the average American household expected to pay $740 more in gas this year. Here in Georgia gas prices have increased by nearly a dollar since the start of the war.
From the gas pump to utility bills, Trump’s energy policies are pinching the wallets of working Georgia families while padding the pockets of his ultra-wealthy pals. Rep. Buddy Carter has rubber stamped Trump’s fossil fuel-friendly agenda at every turn while taking $33,500 from companies that are sharing in the windfall of Trump’s war of choice.
