Congressman Ciscomani is Lying to Himself and to His Constituents

Tucson, AZ—During a recent interview with KOLD in Tucson, Congressman Juan Ciscomani championed his vote on HR1 and framed it as a vote that “lets people keep more of their money.” This statement comes as we approach the anniversary of the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which has already cost thousands of Arizona jobs and cuts to clean energy investments that would have lowered energy costs.
Climate Power Arizona Director Diali Avila issued the following statement:
“Ciscomani was telling his constituents about affordability and had the nerve to point to his vote for HR1 as so-called relief for families. The same vote gutted the clean energy investments that would have kept their bills down. He said nothing about the TEP (Tucson Electric Power) rate hike coming in September, nothing about the fact that families across the country are now facing an 18% increase in their home electric bills. What does he have to say to those families that are suffering from extreme heat and bills they can’t afford to pay?”
