Diesel Crosses Record $6 Per Gallon Threshold Right Before Trump Takes the Stage at His Self-Congratulatory Billionaire’s Ball

Washington, DC – Consumers have been struggling at the pump and at the kitchen table all summer — thanks to Trump’s disastrous economic agenda. His war of choice with Iran has dragged on for over 6 months, and gas prices remain at their highest level this late in the year, currently sitting around $4.27. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, they just received even more bad news — diesel prices just surpassed (another) historic threshold, hitting the $6 mark for the first time in history. That means higher prices everywhere from the grocery store to the post office. 

Meanwhile, Trump has spent the last two days at his billionaires’ ball, aka midterm convention, where he and his Republican friends have failed to offer Americans any solutions for the issues that matter most to them. He did, however, complain in his speech last night that he doesn’t get “credit” for his economic policies— so we’ll assume he’s ready to take credit for this one too.

Climate Power Communications Director Alex Glass released the following statement: “While Trump parties it up in Dallas bragging about ‘energy dominance,’ diesel just hit $6 a gallon for the first time in history — in real time, a few hours before he is set to go (back) on stage. That’s not dominance — that’s another setback for consumers in his ongoing and self-caused affordability crisis. Now consumers can expect to pay even more at the pump, the grocery store, and everywhere in between. He broke it. Republicans own it.”
