FACT CHECK: Did Mike Collins Really Vote for $80 Billion in Tax Breaks for Data Centers?

Yup, he did.
Washington, DC — Last night, Mike Collins gave yet another toothless response to questions about Trump’s supercharged data center expansion, which he rubber-stamped. It should come as no surprise that Collins refused to offer the leadership Georgians deserve, given that he voted for the GOP budget bill that gave $83 billion in handouts to data center developers. Instead of offering any real solutions, Collins made it clear that his loyalty lies with Trump, who wants virtually zero guardrails for AI or data centers.
Americans are desperate for solutions to keep massive data centers from polluting the air and spiking energy costs. But as data centers increasingly become a key issue for voters, Republicans are turning to billionaire Elon Musk, who owns the biggest, most polluting data centers in America, to save their sinking ship.
Climate Power spokesperson Marcus W. Robinson issued the following statement: “Mike Collins stumbled his way through an answer to one of the biggest issues facing Georgians in this election. He doesn’t have solutions because he’s the one who helped create the problem by handing out roughly $80 billion in tax breaks for data centers. Collins also voted to fast track data centers past community objections and block states from passing their own guardrails. Now that Georgians are demanding answers, he’s trying to point fingers at anyone else but himself. But he can’t run from his own votes.”
