FACT CHECK: Kamala Harris is Lowering Energy Costs While Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda Will Raise Them 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Vice President Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to triple American clean energy production and lower energy costs by $38 billion for American families. Donald Trump is threatening to raise those costs with his Project 2025 agenda while handing out  $110 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil and his billionaire donors.  

FACT: Kamala Harris cast the tiebreaking vote for the clean energy plan, which will help households save over $1,000 a year on energy costs and will save American households $38 billion on energy costs overall. 

FACT: Trump’s Project 2025 agenda will cost American households $240 more in annual energy costs and $32 billion more overall to American households.

FACT: The clean energy plan can save Americans an average of $500 per year on utility bills through tax credits and rebates for energy-saving home improvements like heat pumps, doors, windows, and insulation.

FACT: The clean energy plan’s rooftop solar tax credits can help homeowners save about $400 a year on utility bills and, when combined with the plan’s residential battery tax credits, can save tens of thousands of dollars on utility bills over the system’s lifetime.

FACT: According to EnergySage, the average homeowner saves between $28,000 and $120,000 on electric bills over the life of their solar panel system.

FACT: Investments in wind and solar included in the clean energy plan lowered the cost of producing each by 55% and 40%, respectively, setting the stage for lower costs for families.
