ICYMI: Americans’ Energy Bills Continue to Skyrocket As Trump Dismisses Voters

A new report from Moody Analytics shows Americans’ energy bill has increased $930 per household since Trump’s started his war of choice in Iran

Washington, DC – As the American people decide between filling their gas tank or purchasing groceries, Trump continued to minimize consumers’ concerns last night, telling attendees at a rally in North Carolina that the sky-high gas prices are “a very inexpensive price to pay.”

Trump dismissing working-class Americans (again) comes as the average gallon of gas in the U.S. exceeded $4.43 on Thursday, up 39% from a year ago –  a direct result of Trump’s war of choice in Iran. This coincides with per-gallon diesel prices hitting all-time highs, above $6 in recent days, and over 70% higher than the same day a year prior. While Americans’ costs increase, Trump’s oil and gas buddies are raking in massive profits.

Meanwhile, a recent report from Moody’s Analytics shows the total energy bill per household since Trump’s war of choice in Iran began has increased by $930. This increase is a result of higher costs on items like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. This analysis underscores a recent Climate Power and Center for American Progress Action Fund report that found that Trump-GOP policies have cost American families at least $2,000 through skyrocketing gas prices, utility bills, and essential goods, a total that rises to more than $3,500 for families with ACA marketplace coverage.

Climate Power Communications Director Alex Glass released the following statement: “Trump’s war of choice in Iran is wreaking havoc on Americans’ everyday costs and lives. Instead of actually taking us seriously, Trump is downplaying our concerns and mocking us at rallies. Trump and his oil and gas donors are making billions from the war in Iran while everyday Americans struggle to afford basic necessities like gas and electric bills. Don’t be fooled – Trump doesn’t care about working-class people, he cares about his own bottom line. ”
