INTERIOR SECRETARY DEB HAALAND TO CELEBRATE BIDENOMICS CLIMATE INVESTMENTS WITH REP. BECCA BALINT

Burlington, Vermont — Today, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland will promote federal funding for wildlife refuges and outdoor recreation projects, as a result of President Biden’s clean energy plan. Secretary Haaland will be welcomed by Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT), who has worked closely with the Administration to bring green initiatives to Vermonters.

The visit comes just a day after the Department of the Interior launched the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Projects Map, which highlights how the Investing in America Agenda is making an impact in local communities across the nation. To date, over $7.3 billion in funding has been announced, with 1.4k projects aimed at combating pollution, restoring ecosystems, addressing the impacts of global warming and increasingly severe extreme weather events.

While Vermont’s climate is typically thought to be relatively resilient, the Department of Health found that the state is seeing rising temperatures and more frequent heavy rainfall – spurring the need to protect native species and their habitats.
