Rick Jackson and Mike Collins to Double Down on Trump’s Disastrous Agenda, Drive Utility Costs Even Higher

Atlanta, GA – Yesterday, Georgia Republicans nominated Rick Jackson for Georgia Governor and Mike Collins for U.S. Senate, two politicians who have both made clear they will prioritize their own bottom line over hardworking Georgians. As electricity prices have spiked 16% since Trump took office and gas prices continue to climb thanks to Trump’s attacks on Georgia clean energy and his war of choice in Iran, Jackson and Collins are poised to sign off on every piece of Trump’s disastrous agenda.

“Georgia Republicans nominated two candidates who have made clear they will rubber stamp Donald Trump’s agenda no matter the cost to Georgia families,” said Mark McLaurin, Georgia State Director at Climate Power. “Big Oil investor Rick Jackson and multi-millionaire Mike Collins will double downon the damage of Trump’s disastrous agenda, sending utility bills through the roof, killing clean energy jobs, and lining their own pockets at the expense of hardworking Georgians.”

Rick Jackson has shown time and again that his priorities begin and end with his own wallet. When asked about soaring gas prices hitting Georgia families, Jackson bragged about owning an oil refinery. He has admitted to personally profiting from Trump’s tariffs—the same cost-raising policies taking money directly out of Georgians’ pockets—and has said he supports Trump’s budget law because it lowered his own taxes by 40%.

Mike Collins has been no better for Georgia families. Collins said Trump is doing a “fantastic job” on the war in Iran—the same war sending gas prices through the roof. He also voted for Trump’s cuts to Georgia clean energy production that are making utility bills higher. Even as utility bills squeeze Georgia families, Collins voted to raise insurance premiums for more than a million Georgians to hand billionaires another tax break.
