Kathleen Sgamma helped write Donald Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda, calling for drilling on public lands
Washington, D.C. — Donald Trump has nominated Kathleen Sgamma, president of Western Energy Alliance, a trade group advancing drilling on public lands, to be his Bureau of Land Management Director. Sgamma was a key architect of Donald Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda, which raises costs for American families.
Climate Power senior advisor for oil and gas Alex Witt issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s nomination to run the Bureau of Land Management shows he’s willing to sell off our pristine public lands to the highest bidder. Opening up national treasures to the oil industry means putting them at risk for future generations and putting harmful chemicals into our air and water. Donald Trump is working in the interest of his billionaire donors even if it means ruining protected recreational, scenic, and cultural sites for Americans.”
Americans overwhelmingly support protecting our public lands from oil and gas drilling. By a 52%-38% margin, Americans say that the federal government should prioritize clean energy production over fossil fuels for new energy projects on public lands.
