Vance Heads to Iowa Again as His Administration Sinks Deeper Underwater With the American People

Trump’s policies have raised costs for the average Iowa family by nearly $2,000  — and Reps. Hinson, Nunn and Miller-Meeks have happily supported them.

After spending last week in Dallas rubber-stamping Trump’s agenda at his self-congratulatory convention, Hinson suddenly won’t be in attendance as Vance tries to sell Iowans more snake oil.

Washington, DC – JD Vance is stopping in Iowa today as part of the Trump administration’s ongoing Gaslighting World Tour. As the affordability crisis in Iowa and across the nation worsens, voters are growing increasingly tired of the lies, incompetence, and corruption. In fact, in recently released polling from Fox News, nearly 75% of voters rate the economy negatively.

That contrast is playing out up and down the ballot. For example, in the 1st District, Christina Bohannan has leaned into cheaper, clean energy as an affordability fix, while Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted to gut clean energy tax credits despite claiming she’d protect them. And every Iowa Republican in the House, including Rep. Nunn and Rep. Hinson, has also voted for the Trump budget bill that included massive tax breaks for data centers, voted to fast-track data centers past community objections, and even to ban states from being able to pass their own guardrails on AI and data centers.

And the damage already done is extensive, as fertilizer prices have skyrocketed up to 45% and diesel prices have reached record highs, hurting farmers right as harvest season is in full swing. Trump’s EPA has also spent the past two years gutting critical public health protections Iowans depend on. It weakened mercury limits on coal plants, delayed coal ash cleanup to 2031, loosened groundwater standards, and gutted PFAS protections and reporting rules, even though PFAS already exceeds federal limits in three of Iowa’s four districts. So while Iowans are paying more at the pump and at the grocery store, they are now even more saddled with health care costs as Trump and Vance’s rampant pro-pollution agenda puts their health at risk.

So let’s take a look at just a few of the devastating highlights of Trump and Vance’s failed leadership in Iowa:
