Fuse Media’s Be Change Initiative Launches “Be Heard. Be Change.” Campaign with Climate Power 2020 and Stacey Abrams
Washington, D.C. – Fuse Media, a cross-platform entertainment media brand serving a multicultural Millennial and Gen Z audience, has kicked off “Be Heard. Be Change.” with Climate Power 2020 — the latest iteration of its call-to-action initiative that launched earlier this year.
The campaign will feature Stacey Abrams, a member of the board of advisors for Climate Power 2020, founder of Fair Fight and the Southern Economic Advancement Project, former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, and 2018 Democratic Party candidate for Governor of Georgia.
Starting July 5, a series of 30-second vignettes featuring Abrams will air on the Fuse and FM (Fuse Music) linear channels, on Fuse.tv and across the Fuse Media social accounts. The vignettes will detail the impact of climate change on communities of color and will encourage people to vote for politicians that include environmental responsibility as part of their platform. Viewers will also be invited to speak out and share their personal stories of how climate change has affected them at stories.climatepower2020.org. Additional vignettes featuring Abrams are being produced to run in August and will focus on voter participation in November.
The campaign has been developed in partnership with Climate Power 2020, an organization with the goal to embolden leaders to take immediate action on climate change and to build a just and equitable economy. It is being supported on digital and social, with the content and stats provided by Climate Power 2020 being featured on a special Be Change/Climate Power 2020 hub on Fuse.tv as well as highlighted on the Fuse social accounts. Additionally, Fuse’s Instagram account will allow people to swipe up to be brought to the Climate Power 2020 Storyteller page and submit their own climate stories.
“2020 is a make-or-break moment for climate action and environmental justice—and Fuse understands that communities of color and young people hold the power to embolden change,” said Climate Power Executive Director Lori Lodes. “Climate change is an important issue for young Black and Latinx voters because the climate crisis disproportionately impacts them and their families. By working together, Climate Power and Fuse will help mobilize young people to share their stories, demand action, and hold our leaders accountable.”
This is the latest example of Fuse Media teaming up with key political figures to support issues most important to its audience – something that has been core to the company’s mission for 15-plus years. This year alone, since launching its Be Change initiative, Fuse Media has shared messages of empowerment from Sen. Tammy Baldwin (WI), Rep. A. Donald McEachin (VA) and Rep. Ben Ray Luján (NM) – as part of the “Be Home. Be Healthy” campaign around social distancing and staying at home during the pandemic outbreak – and Rep. Donna Shalala (FL), Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX), and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ) – as part of the “Be Proud” campaign during Pride Month.
