ON CAPITOL HILL: People Gather From Across the Country to Describe the Human Toll of Climate-Fueled Extreme Weather & Call for Action
Sens. Bennet, Cortez Masto, Murphy, Smith, and Wyden and Reps. Casten, McEachin, and Neguse to be joined by constituents sharing extreme weather stories
Washington, D.C. – Join Climate Power and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) on Thursday, July 22 at 9:00 a.m. EST on Capitol Hill for a unique opportunity to hear from people across the country detailing how climate change-fueled extreme weather has hurt the communities where they live. Members from the Senate and House representing this group of constituents will also join the conversation to highlight the urgency of the moment and why Congress should be united in taking bold climate action. A light breakfast and refreshment will be served.
Constituents of Colorado Sen. Bennet, Nevada Sen. Cortez Masto, Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, Minnesota Sen. Smith, Oregon Sen. Wyden, Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06), Rep. McEachin (VA-04), and Rep. Neguse (CO-02) will join their members of Congress to describe how the costs of inaction on climate are hurting people right now. They will also make the case for investments in climate, clean energy, justice, and jobs at the scale that science and our communities demand. The Center for American Progress’ Christy Goldfuss will moderate.
