Statement on the New Clean Energy Jobs Bringing Life to West Virginia’s Economy

Washington, D.C. – Today, West Virginia Delegate Evan Hansen (Monongalia County), issued the following statement after the Department of Energy announced how West Virginia workers will play a key role in offshore wind development:

“West Virginia has a long legacy of powering this country, and that proud tradition can continue if we take advantage of clean energy opportunities like this one. Our communities are prepared to carry out bold investments to rebuild our local economies and create jobs. Many West Virginians are already working in our state’s growing clean energy economy, and thousands more could join this workforce with good-paying jobs if strategic investments are made.

The American Jobs Plan and infrastructure bill currently being debated in Washington must include robust clean energy investments that support West Virginia and other states that are hardest hit by the decline in coal production.
