Americans Could See Their Natural Gas Bills Increase by $54 per Month Thanks To Trump and Republicans

Trump has aggressively pushed to export Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), causing utility bills to skyrocket

Washington, DC – As Trump and Republicans take energy options off the grid, some Massachusetts residents could see their natural gas bills climb as much as $54 per month, or almost $650 per year. Meanwhile, customers in Long Island are seeing their electricity costs increase by 13% during record cold temperatures. Forty-nine states and the District of Columbia saw rate hikes as high as $59.31 per month announced in 2025.

In the first nine months of Trump’s second term, American families paid $12 billion more for natural gas than a year earlier, thanks to his administration’s reckless energy policies. At the same time, Trump has taken a sledgehammer to clean energy projects that would have brought energy onto the grid and lowered costs. In December, Trump escalated his vendetta against wind energy when he halted construction of all offshore wind projects, including two projects in Massachusetts and Long Island.

Climate Power Senior Advisor Jesse Lee issued the following statement: “Trump promised to cut energy costs in half, but a year later the energy affordability crisis is just getting worse. Instead, Trump is selling natural gas to the rest of the world, which even his own Energy Department agrees is increasing costs at home, and taking energy options off the grid while demand soars. Trump’s billionaire donors may be getting richer, but working families are footing the bill. Americans have had enough of his broken promises and failed energy policies.”
