Logan will lead communications and strategy to highlight the cost of the climate crisis and make Trump’s cuts to disaster response a political liability for Republicans
Climate Urgency campaign Co-chairs will be Monica Medina and John Morales
Washington, DC – Today, Climate Power announced that Mia Logan will lead its Climate Urgency Campaign as Senior Advisor, with Monica Medina and John Morales joining as co-chairs. Climate Power’s Climate Urgency Campaign highlights how the climate crisis impacts day-to-day life through higher costs and extreme weather. The campaign also focuses on holding Donald Trump and Republicans accountable for gutting disaster relief and leaving communities more vulnerable to extreme weather.
As Senior Advisor, Logan will lead the campaign’s efforts to root extreme weather squarely in voters’ daily economic reality—showing how it hits their wallets through higher insurance costs, property damage, and financial insecurity. This effort will combine polling, message testing, and storytelling to make climate change tangible and immediate—a driving force behind today’s affordability crisis.
As Climate Urgency campaign co-chairs, Monica Medina and John Morales will use their expertise to highlight the impacts of Trump and Republicans’ efforts to undermine climate science, weaken our forecasting capabilities, and gut our nation’s extreme weather preparedness and disaster response infrastructure. Medina is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs and former Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere at NOAA. Morales is a meteorologist, Fellow & Honorary Member of the American Meteorological Society, renowned weatherman and former NOAA / National Weather Service forecaster.
“Families are bearing the costs of the climate crisis every day, from dangerous extreme weather to higher housing costs and insurance rate hikes,” said Mia Logan, new Senior Advisor for the Climate Urgency Campaign at Climate Power. “Meanwhile, Trump and Republican lawmakers are dead set on making the problem worse. By slashing weather forecasting and disaster response funding and leaving our power grid more vulnerable to extreme weather, Trump’s reckless policies are making life more expensive and less safe. I am so excited to be leading the expert team at Climate Power who will hold them accountable and galvanize action in this critical moment.”
“As Donald Trump continues to defund and debase climate science and gut the agencies responsible for keeping us safe from extreme weather, it has never been more important to hold him — and the Republicans in Congress and the states who have rubberstamped his agenda — accountable,” said Monica Medina, Climate Urgency Campaign Co-Chair. “They have weakened our forecasting capabilities, delayed and denied disaster relief, and pushed the cost of recovery from hurricanes, wildfires, flooding, and other disasters onto individuals and local communities. This Climate Urgency campaign will make sure voters know who is to blame for leaving communities vulnerable and sending costs skyrocketing.”
“Climate change is making extreme weather more frequent, more costly, and more dangerous,” said John Morales, Climate Urgency Campaign Co-Chair. “Strong weather forecasting is essential to protecting communities and lowering costs, but Trump’s cuts have weakened our ability to provide critical alerts that keep people safe. The climate crisis is urgent, and that’s why the work of this campaign is so important.”
