We Have Some Questions for Markwayne Mullin

Washington, DC – After Kristi Noem’s truly disastrous run as Homeland Security Secretary, Trump is seeking to replace her with the famously level-headed Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin. Mullin is set to appear before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs tomorrow and will surely be asked to answer questions about the Trump administration’s dangerous and unlawful immigration enforcement policies, dismantling of our disaster response infrastructure, and more.
We have some questions of our own for Sen. Mullin:
- Will Markwayne Mullin spend $200 million on private jets for inappropriate trysts while blocking billions of dollars in disaster relief funds?
- Will Mullin continue the Trump administration’s full-scale gutting of FEMA and dismantling of disaster mitigation and response?
- Will Mullin divert millions of dollars and dozens of staff from FEMA to Trump’s unpopular, unlawful immigration enforcement agenda?
- Will Mullin keep Noem’s rule on personally approving contracts over $100,000, and therefore obstruct and delay life-saving disaster response efforts during deadly flooding?
- Will Mullin follow the law and not interfere with FEMA’s ability to respond to disasters?
- Mullin’s home state of Oklahoma has been hit by 25 tornadoes already in 2026. Like Noem, will Mullin allow contracts to lapse, blocking critical tornado-tracking technology that state and local emergency management workers use to conduct life-saving search-and-rescue operations?
