ICYMI: 51% of Americans Say Gas Prices Are a Financial Burden as Trump Continues to Ignore Their Concerns

Trump officials have spent the past week gaslighting Americans and celebrating higher profits for gas and oil billionaires

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that “in their heart of hearts”, Americans feel good about the economy

Washington, DC – A new poll from CBS News shows that, as desperately as Trump and his henchmen try to convince people otherwise, a majority of Americans are struggling amid skyrocketing gas prices. With approval ratings at record lows, you’d think that the Trump administration would be laser-focused on addressing their concerns. Instead, they’re doubling down on pretending that everything is okay, getting in fights with the pope and directing their attention to building a 250-foot arch that will cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

As the news gets worse and worse for Trump and Republicans, they are frantically throwing every possible talking point at the American people to see what sticks. Here’s just a sample of the winning messages they tried out this week:

Trump’s economic advisor Kevin Hassett: While it’s very frustrating to go to the pump and see what the price of gasoline looks like, the benefit for the oil producers and workers in those industries is significant”

Donald Trump: “Well, [gas prices are] not very high… The stock market’s up. Everything’s doing really well.”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright: “We’re gonna see energy prices high and maybe even rising until we get… meaningful ship traffic through the Straits of Hormuz… It will take some time.”

Karoline Leavitt: “Look at how gas prices decreased over the past year since this president was in office.”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright: “Just because it looks like we’re going the wrong direction doesn’t mean that’s the direction we are going.”
