Chevron Announces $2.8 Billion in Profits; Campaign Donations Flowing to Rep. Ciscomani While Arizonans Feel the Pain at the Pump

Phoenix, AZ — Chevron just reported $2.8 billion in profits in the first part of this year, as Southern Arizona drivers continue to feel the pain at the pump of $4.66 per gallon. Rep. Ciscomani, who has received thousands in contributions from Chevron since 2022, continues to rubber stamp all of Trump’s fossil fuel-friendly policies. As utility bills and gas prices continue to rise and strain working families, Congressional Republicans have continued to advance the interests of oil and gas companies—and they show no signs of slowing down despite the industry posting massive profits amid an ongoing affordability crisis.
In 2024, Trump promised his Big Oil donors—including Chevron—that he would enact policies helpful to their bottom line as he asked for $1 billion in campaign donations. Trump’s war of choice in Iran, attacks on clean energy investments, and decimation of pollution protections have all been a boon to Big Oil, making way for record-breaking windfalls for his wealthy oil supporters. Oil and gas companies could reap a $60 billion windfall from the “Trump Oil Shock,” which generated more than $30 million in profits for big oil every hour during the first month of the war.
“Rep. Ciscomani and Trump are not looking out for hard working people, they are prioritizing the profits of their Big Oil supporters as Southern Arizona families are left to foot the bill,” said Diali Avila, Arizona State Director for Climate Power. “We need elected officials who are looking out for hard working people–not their rich friends.”
Gas prices have topped $4 per gallon nationally, with the average American household expected to pay $740 more in gas this year. Here in Arizona, gas prices have increased by more than a dollar since the start of the war, while utility prices have increased by 9% since Trump took office.
From the gas pump to utility bills, Trump’s energy policies are pinching the wallets of working Arizona families while padding the pockets of his ultra-wealthy pals. Rep. Ciscomani has rubber stamped Trump’s fossil fuel-friendly agenda, allowing higher prices and polluting Arizonans’ air and water.
