Trump’s Big Prize Brought Home From China: Even Higher Gas Prices

Washington, DC – As Trump finished his trip to China, he gave his first major interview to Fox News, and made one central boast: “They’ve agreed they want to buy oil from the United States, they’re going to go to Texas, we’re going to start sending Chinese ships to Texas and to Louisiana and to Alaska.” It is well understood that the more oil America exports, the more supply tightens and the higher gas prices at home will go, just as is the case with natural gas exports.
Climate Power Senior Advisor Jesse Lee issued the following statement: “Trump’s energy corruption is landing like a sledgehammer on the American people again. After more than a year of us paying higher prices on everything because of Trump’s tariffs, Trump finally came home with our reward: even higher gas prices. While Trump was clearly telling the truth that he never thinks of everyday Americans’ financial situations, it’s just as clear from his jubilation over this new gas price hike that the profits of his oil billionaire donors are never far from his mind. Every Republican in Congress voted for this war and for Trump’s energy cuts that jacked up utility bills, and they are going to have a long summer trying to explain that to their constituents.”
