Vance Calls Climate Change a “Sociopathic” Reason Not to Have Children

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After Trump’s weeks of denying the climate crisis in the face of deadly hurricanes and spewing dangerous lies about relief efforts, today his running mate, JD Vance dismissed the seriousness of climate change by connecting it to his favorite insult, childless cat ladies. In an interview with the New York Times podcast The Daily today, Vance says,”I’ve used this word sociopathic…like, that, I think, is a very deranged idea, the idea that you shouldn’t have a family because of concerns over climate change.”

Alex Glass, Managing Director of Communications for Climate Power, released the following statement, “Another interview, another opportunity for Vance to double down on his disdain for women and their reproductive rights, this time with a side of climate denialism. Donald Trump and JD Vance are climate deniers who don’t respect women’s rights and will do nothing to solve the very real crisis that has left death and destruction across the southeast this month. Calling women ‘sociopathic’ is no way to win voters and shows a deep lack of empathy and understanding for communities suffering from the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Milton and Helene.”
