ICYMI: Vance is Claiming “Manufacturing Renaissance,” but Under Trump, Over 62,000 Jobs Already Lost or Threatened

Washington, D.C. – As Vice President Vance heads to South Carolina to celebrate Trump’s supposed “manufacturing renaissance,” new data show the exact opposite to be true. Yesterday, Climate Power released new data showing that since President Trump’s election, over 62,000 clean energy jobs have already been lost or threatened, and 399,000 jobs are at risk if Republicans repeal the clean energy tax incentives from 2022.
In South Carolina alone, 1,520 clean energy jobs have already been lost or threatened since Trump’s election. And as the 5th largest state for new clean energy jobs, a staggering 22,312 would be at risk if Trump succeeds in repealing clean energy investments as part of the budget bill being considered now. Today, Trump is meeting with top Congressional tax writers to decide how many of these jobs he will destroy.
This comes as U.S. GDP shrank for the first time since early 2022, showing how just a few months of Trump’s chaotic tariff policy and his war on clean energy have reversed the clean energy jobs and manufacturing boom unleashed over the last three years.

Financial Times: Trump energy plan has caused 20,000 US job losses, says climate group
“The Trump administration’s cuts to the clean energy industry have led to 20,000 job losses in the US and threatened almost $70bn in project investments, according to a climate advocacy group.
Climate Power warned that almost 100 projects had been cancelled, delayed or threatened since the November presidential election, potentially reversing gains in manufacturing employment under the Biden administration.
A further 40,000 clean energy jobs are under threat, as they are attached to paused projects or linked to companies that were previously awarded federal grants or loans that the Trump administration now wants to cut.”
Semafor: Climate jobs on the line
“More than 60,000 US jobs in clean energy have been delayed, threatened, or eliminated entirely since US President Donald Trump’s reelection in November, putting the country’s manufacturing renaissance at risk, according to a new analysis.
A further 399,000 jobs — the bulk of which are in GOP-controlled districts — could be on the chopping block if congressional Republicans follow through with their legislative agenda to repeal or gut Biden-era tax credits, with the future of manufacturing “ceded to China yet again,” climate advocacy group Climate Power warned in its April Clean Energy Jobs report.”
