Republican Rate Hike Set to Hammer Working Families

Washington, D.C. — After House Republicans jammed through Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, Climate Power Executive Director Lori Lodes issued the following statement:

“With today’s vote, House Republicans didn’t just repeal clean energy investments—they took a sledgehammer to our future. They voted to jack up energy bills, destroy clean energy jobs, and sell out their own communities to Big Oil and billionaire donors.

Republicans voted to make energy more expensive in the middle of record demand, blackouts, and a climate crisis they’re now making worse. They’re gutting cheaper, cleaner, faster energy solutions and betting against American workers—just to stay in Donald Trump’s good graces.

This bill is as toxic as it is cruel – and its unpopularity will only grow with every factory that closes, every job lost, and every family hit with higher bills. 

We will be out there every day reminding Americans of who raised their costs, outsourced their jobs, increased pollution, and kicked them off their health care. Come next November, Republicans will be the ones paying the price for this disastrous piece of legislation.”
