Washington, D.C. — Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the federal response to flooding in Texas, saying that it is how Trump envisions the future of disaster relief. Because of Trump’s reckless cuts, search and rescue efforts for flood victims were delayed for three days, and calls for help went unanswered. As extreme weather events become more frequent and deadly, do we want a future where our federal disaster response abandons victims?
