After President Biden’s Visit to Areas of California Idaho, and Colorado Impacted by Climate Crisis, Climate Power Urges Congress to Swiftly Pass the Build Back Better Act

Washington, D.C. – Today, President Biden visited Denver, Colorado to discuss his Build Back Better plan and how it can benefit Coloradans. This comes as President Biden visited the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho and also toured the damage from the still-burning Caldor fire in Northern California yesterday. Climate Power executive director Lori Lodes issued the following statement in response.

“The devastating impact of the climate crisis is clearer than ever before. Fires continue to devastate the West, hundreds of people perished during heat waves this summer, and dozens died due to unprecedented flooding afterHurricane Ida. As President Biden said, this is a code red moment for our country and the planet. The time to build back better is right now. Congress must send President Biden a bold plan that passes the climate test.”

A recent study by the Analysis Group commissioned by the Natural Resources Defense Council and Evergreen Action found that a Clean Energy Payment Program would create nearly 8 million new jobs, inject more than $900 billion into the U.S. economy, and raise $154 billion in revenue for federal, state, and local governments.

Hart Research analyzed recent polling and found that the political landscape on climate and clean energy has completely changed, with moderate and suburban voters strongly supporting budget plans that invest in clean energy and climate, believing those reforms are essential.
