As Anniversary of Trump and Republicans’ Budget Bill Looms, Nevadans are Paying More for Utilities, Groceries, Gas, and Healthcare

LAS VEGAS, NV—New research out from the Center for American Progress Action Fund and Climate Power highlights how unaffordable life has become for Nevadans, thanks in large part to Donald Trump and congressional Republicans. One year after the GOP’s budget bill was signed into law, Trump’s policies have raised costs for Nevada families by $1,433 per household through the first half of 2026. For families that buy health care coverage through the ACA marketplace, that total climbs to $2,945. By the end of 2026, those totals could grow to $2,312 and $5,337, respectively.

Trump’s war of choice in Iran raised gasoline costs in Nevada by a total of $279 per household. By the end of 2026, those additional fuel costs could grow to $699 if costs continue to rise at the same rate.

“Rather than taking action to lower the cost of living for Nevadans, Trump and Republicans like Governor Joe Lombardo are actively making the problems worse,” said Climate Power State Director Tom Lenard. “One year ago, Trump signed one of his most disastrous policies ever into law: the Republican budget bill. Since then, Nevadans have been paying the price: literally. Our state has lost clean energy jobs and investments, which means even higher utility bills, on top of votes to raise costs on everything from gas to groceries to health care. Instead of Nevada leading America toward energy independence, Trump and Republicans have made us even more reliant on the global oil and gas market, then led us into a disastrous war that we’ve all paid for at the pump.”
