WASHINGTON, D.C. – We know the Trump presidency is a blur of toxicity, so here’s a quick refresher on his environmental record, which is the worst of any president in U.S. history:
- FACT: Trump gutted more than 125 environmental protections, including critical safeguards against noxious chemicals in the air we breathe and water we drink.
- FACT: Trump’s rollbacks included controls on toxic substances known to have catastrophic health impacts, like lead, mercury, arsenic, and even asbestos.
- FACT: Trump allowed corporate polluters to pump chemicals linked to cancer and brain damage into our air and water, disproportionately hurting children.
- FACT: As Trump bowed to the chemical and fossil fuel industries, his own EPA was often forced to concede that the moves would cost thousands of American lives.
That’s just scratching the surface of Trump’s historically toxic environmental record. And his second term promises to be even worse: Big Oil is literally drafting ready-to-sign executive orders shredding protections for clean air and water, and Donald Trump has promised to sign them on day one because he wants their $1 billion in campaign and legal defense funds.
