Big Oil Contributes Over $10 Million in Q3 to Try to Buy Trump a Second Term

Washington, D.C. — Donald Trump cashed out with his Big Oil donors in this latest round of campaign funding reports. The same donors Trump has been wining and dining at candlelit fundraisers, and the same donors who convinced Trump to raise gas prices on Americans to bolster their profits, contributed over $10 million (and counting) to the Trump campaign and associated PACs.
Here are just some (but not all) of the receipts for Q3:
- Another $5 million from Kelcy Warren of Energy Transfer Partners
- Another $400,000 from Jeff and Melinda Hildebrand of Hilcorp
- $400,000 from Vicki Hollub of Occidental Petroleum
- $315,000 more from John Catsimatidis of United Refining Co.
- $457,000 more from Liz and Chris Wright of Liberty Energy, who Trump floated as a possible Secretary of Energy
- Another $1 million from coal barons Joseph and Kelly Craft of Alliance Resource Partners, who are top RNC financiers
- Another $1.3 million from Tara and Cody Campbell, co-founder of Double Eagle Energy Holdings
- Another $924,600 from Syed Anwar of Midland Energy
- Another $1.1 million from the family of oil mogul Doug Scharbauer
“Big Oil got a great return on their investment during Donald Trump’s first term in office, with Trump inflating gas prices to bail them out, handing them massive tax breaks, and padding their bottom line. The industry has his back and is doing everything they can to buy him another term in office,” said Climate Power senior advisor for oil and gas Alex Witt. “Big Oil knows Trump is worth every penny for their bottom line – and Trump’s already promised to give them $110 million in tax breaks and sign their wish list on Day One.”
