Climate Coalition Releases New Ads To Engage Younger Voters
tags
WASHINGTON, DC — As the hottest summer on record comes to a close, a pair of new ads designed specifically to engage young voters on climate change are the latest content from a coalition of climate groups delivering a major $55 million advertising campaign in support of Vice President Harris. The threat posed by climate change is at the center of this latest ad, continuing the broader advertising campaign’s focus on Harris’ vision for lowering energy costs and creating hundreds of thousands of good paying, American jobs in clean energy manufacturing.
The climate coalition behind the ads includes LCV Victory Fund and Climate Power Action, in partnership with Future Forward (FF PAC). The two ads will play on YouTube in battleground states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

The ads are the latest tactic to increase outreach to young voters. Separately LCV Victory Fund has previously announced a paid canvassing program to knock on 2.2 million doors, with an estimated 30% of those being 35 and under. LCV Victory Fund is also running a paid relational mobilization program focusing on young voters in key states AZ, MI, NV, NC, PA, and WI.
Nationally the presidential race remains very tight and young voters – 12% of whom could still swing to either Harris or Trump – could be decisive on Election Day. Public opinion research and polling from climate groups has consistently shown climate change is both a key issue for younger voters, and also has high personal importance for them, dating back to last year.
Nearly 7 in 10 young voters support Harris’ approach to ensure all Americans have access to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment drawing upon her record as a district attorney going after polluters, over Trump’s stated intention to aggressively expand drilling while dismissing the threat posed by climate change. This matches earlier data from the spring showing a similar supermajority of younger voters favor a president who addresses the issue of climate change head-on rather than one who would step back from addressing climate change and promote the continued production of fossil fuels.
“Young voters matter in this election, and young voters care about fighting the climate crisis,” said Pete Maysmith, SVP for Campaigns at LCV Victory Fund. “Kamala Harris has a great story to tell about her record of holding polluters accountable, building a more affordable clean energy economy and her vision for the future to lead the world in reducing climate pollution. We’re eager to make sure young voters hear that story and are motivated to vote this November.“
“Climate is consistently a motivating issue for younger voters and clearly a deeply personal one for their generation,” said Lori Lodes, President of Climate Power Action. “Moving into the final two months of the general election, the youth vote — and in particular, how younger voters view the candidates on the issues they care about, like climate — will be a critical factor in deciding the next president. It is a conversation we are excited for, because to borrow Kamala Harris’ own words the future is always worth fighting for.”
“This partnership continues to make the choice clear for key voters – either a future with lower energy costs and less pollution with Kamala Harris or higher costs and more pollution under Donald Trump,” Chauncey McLean, President of FF PAC said.
Individual groups also continue to be engaged in additional electoral activities, including in pivotal congressional, state, and local races across the country.

Kamala Harris:
“Our nation with this election has a precious, fleeting opportunity to fight for the freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and live free from the pollution that fuels the climate crisis. Let us show each other and the world who we are because the future is always worth fighting for.”

Let’s get real about this election.
When it comes to climate change, Kamala Harris knows it’s a crisis; “The climate crisis is stark.”
While this guy says a lot of it’s a hoax; “It’s a hoax.”
She prosecuted Big Oil polluters, he gives them tax breaks that increase their record profits.
Harris is helping to Triple clean energy production.
Trump thinks wind turbine noise causes cancer.
It would be funny but this isn’t a joke. Our future is at stake this November and she’s the leader we need.
