Climate Coalition Releases New Spanish-Language Ads To Engage Latino Voters

Ads Continue the $55 Million Advertising Effort for Harris, Focused on Clean Energy as Key to the Future of the Economy 

WASHINGTON—Vice President Harris’s words about her vision to lower energy prices and reduce costs for working families are at the heart of two Spanish-language ads engaging Latino voters in battleground states. The ads are the latest content from a coalition of climate groups, including LCV Victory Fund, Climate Power Action and EDF Action Votes, who are partnering with Future Forward (FF PAC) on a major $55 million advertising campaign. 

Latino voters in Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Nebraska’s Second Congressional District, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan will see the ads on national cable networks, local television, and digital platforms starting October 1st.

Nationally, the presidential race remains tight, and Arizona or Nevada could be decisive for Harris’s winning 270 electoral college votes. According to research from the Pew Research Center, Latino voters are a key demographic for climate action. With more than 18 million registered voters, Latinos are the second largest group of voters in the country, and an overwhelming 83% of Latinos are worried about the planet’s increasing temperature.

“For years, the Latino community has been a leader on clean energy initiatives at the local and national level,” said Pete Maysmith, Senior Vice President of Campaigns at LCV Victory Fund. “These ads continue our efforts to reach voters where they are and ensure they know Kamala Harris’ vision for the economy will benefit all, including Latinos. There is a clear choice in the Presidential race, especially when it comes to making sure everyone has access to clean air and water and building a clean energy economy that lowers costs for families and creates high-paying jobs.”

“These ads are an effort to make sure that Latinos, one of the communities most affected by climate change and extreme weather, understand what is at stake in this election,” said Antonieta Cádiz, Deputy Executive Director of Climate Power En Acción. “We intend to make clear that there is a stark contrast between the two candidates and that only Vice President Harris has a climate plan that will push our clean energy economy forward while reducing pollution and providing good-paying jobs in secure sectors.”

“No one should take Latino voters for granted. An investment in Latino voters is an investment in climate voters,” said Anabel Maldonado, EDF Action Votes Western Director.

“This joint program helps make sure that Latino voters are seeing the choice they have to make this November. They’ll pick between someone looking out for working people and caring about Latino families versus someone who only cares about himself and the super-wealthy, like oil executives,” said Chauncey McLean, President of Future Forward. “Latino families will know that Kamala Harris is going to make life more affordable while Donald Trump will just make the super-rich companies even richer.”

Future Forward (FF PAC)’s major program dedicated to reaching Latino voters is led by Cristóbal Alex and Pili Tobar, senior leaders from the successful 2020 campaign. Future Forward is reaching unprecedented levels of Latino advertising and is augmenting it through partnerships with Somos, Unidos and this new one with the climate community.  

Individual groups continue to engage in additional electoral activities, including in pivotal congressional, state, and local races across the country.
