CLIMATE POWER ON THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE DEAL: DEMOCRATS MUST TAKE BOLD ACTION ON CLIMATE WITHOUT DELAY

Washington, D.C. – After the announcement of a final deal on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework, Lori Lodes, Climate Power executive director, issued the following statement:

“The climate crisis is here. Lives are at risk and entire communities are being ravaged by unprecedented heatwaves, intense drought, floods, fires, and other climate-fueled extreme weather events.  First responders and everyday Americans are using every tool they have to survive this crisis. It’s time for Congress to do the same. While the bipartisan deal announced today makes long overdue investments in our dangerously outdated infrastructure, alone it does not meet the urgent climate moment we’re in. Democrats must also move forward with their own bold plan to create millions of clean energy jobs, slash pollution, and move us to 100% clean electricity. The time to start building back better is right now.”
