Climate Power Statement in Solidarity with Striking Auto Workers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the UAW beginning a strike against Ford, Stellantis, and GM, Climate Power executive director Lori Lodes issued the following statement

“Auto workers can and should benefit as the auto industry continues to enjoy large – and growing – profits. It’s time for the auto industry to give workers a fair deal so we can get back to work building a clean energy economic boom anchored by good-paying union jobs.

“Going electric is the future of the auto industry because people love EVs: no maintenance, no pain at the pump, fun to drive, and all while reducing dangerous air pollution. The investments happening right now are already creating new opportunities for workers in communities across the country. This new era can and must be a win for workers, a win for the auto industry, a win for consumers, and a win for the climate.”
