CLIMATE POWER STATEMENT ON THE SENATE REPUBLICANS’ PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN

Washington, D.C. – Today, Lori Lodes, executive director of Climate Power, issued the following statement in response to the infrastructure proposal introduced by Senate Republicans:

“The infrastructure proposal announced by Senate Republicans isn’t a serious response to the crises facing American families and workers. It’s another attempt to protect the profits of their corporate backers at the expense of what the majority of Americans want and need – big, bold investments to build a clean energy economy that creates millions of good-paying, union jobs. To make matters worse, the Senate Republicans would rather charge middle-class taxpayers to pay for their inadequate proposal than slightly raise the corporate tax rate, which the majority of American voters support. This proposal should be dead on arrival.”

new survey released by Data For Progress in partnership with Climate Power, shows strong bipartisan support for Biden’s American Jobs Plan (71%), especially when voters are given information about the climate and clean energy components of the plan.
