DIRTY MONEY: Trump Goes Back to the Oil Well for Campaign Cash

Washington, D.C. — As President Biden and Vice President Harris visit communities impacted by Hurricane Helene across the southeast, Donald Trump kicks off another round of fundraisers with Big Oil executives in Houston and Midland, Texas. The latest edition of Trump kissing Big Oil’s ring comes after a week spent denying the reality of climate change, siphoning resources away from hurricane survivors, and his running mate, JD Vance, saying carbon pollution doesn’t affect the climate crisis.
“After a long week spreading climate conspiracy theories and taking attention and resources away from communities hit by Hurricane Helene, Trump can finally relax and unwind in the warm embrace of his Big Oil donors,” said Alex Witt, Climate Power Senior Advisor for Oil and Gas. “Donald Trump has already promised he’d enact their Day One wishlist, gutting climate action and slashing corporate tax rates so they can continue profiteering and polluting. While Kamala Harris is fighting for everyday Americans and exhibiting leadership in times of crisis, Donald Trump has proven he is more than willing to sell out middle-class families for $1 billion from Big Oil.”
Trump’s cozy relationship and financial ties to Big Oil run deep. Trump asked Big Oil CEOs for $1 billion and promised to deliver their day one wishlist, including $110 billion in tax breaks if he wins in November. Trump’s dangerous Big Oil-sponsored Project 2025 agenda would gut services that help communities prepare for and recover from climate disasters.
