DJT PHONE HOME: Republicans Head Home for Recess as Americans Struggle at the Pump

Gas prices have surged to almost $4 per gallon thanks to Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran

Republicans rubber-stamped Trump’s reckless energy agenda, which has left Americans vulnerable to global energy shocks

Washington, DC – Unlike everyone’s favorite extraterrestrial, who was happy to finally return home, Republicans can’t say the same as they head back home to gaslight their constituents by claiming the affordability crisis is over. Unfortunately for them, Trump’s war of choice is sending gas and diesel prices through the roof, making everything from airfare to groceries more expensive.

Republicans in Congress voted to gut clean energy projects in their own districts that would have created jobs and protected Americans from global energy shocks. Meanwhile, Trump is bragging about making money off of the war and telling Americans to quit whining about soaring gas prices, leaving vulnerable Republicans scrambling to spin his disastrous economic agenda.

IOWA

Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) promised his constituents they “wouldn’t feel the pinch” from the effects of Trump’s war, but gas prices in the Hawkeye state have increased to $3.29. Representatives Nunn and Miller-Meeks rubber-stamped Trump’s disastrous policies, which are sending gas prices soaring and spiking utility bills by 6%.

MICHIGAN

Representative Bill Huzienga (MI-04) is trying to shift the blame as the war spikes gas prices in Michigan to $3.94, but he and Representative Barrett signed off on Trump’s war and their own reckless energy policies have increased utility bills by 6%.

NORTH CAROLINA

Representative Chuck Edwards (NC-11) said that things will “settle down very soon” and dismissed concerns over gas prices surging to $3.75 in North Carolina because “there’s a lot of emotion built into energy prices”. Meanwhile, utility bills have increased by 10% thanks to his energy policies.

PENNSYLVANIA

Representative Scott Perry (PA-10) claimed that gas prices skyrocketing to $3.93 in the Keystone State is “the price for freedom” and implied that Americans who wanted gas prices to go down were not living in “reality”. On top of that, he rubber-stamped Trump’s energy policies, which have spiked utility bills by 15% for his constituents.

ARIZONA

As Representative Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) heads back to Arizona, he is going to have to explain to his constituents why he signed off on Trump’s disastrous policies, which are increasinggas prices in the Grand Canyon state to $4.66 and spiking utility bills by 6%.

WISCONSIN

Representative Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) is heading back to Wisconsin as gas prices hit $3.60 in the Badger State and utility bills increase by 4%.
