Extremist Wing of House Republicans Wants to Kill 39,793 Jobs in Their Own Districts

Washington, D.C. –  Today, 38 House Republicans sent a letter to their Ways and Means Committee colleagues calling on them to fully repeal the 2022 clean energy tax credits that have driven a manufacturing and clean energy boom over the last three years.

If these members of Congress get their way, it could kill 39,793 new jobs in their own districts combined, and nearly 400,000 clean energy jobs across the country. This comes as the first quarter of 2025 was the first time in three years that the U.S. economy shrank and the country saw a decline in clean energy job creation. Since President Trump’s election, already 62,000 American clean energy jobs have been lost or threatened because of his chaotic tariff policies and his war on clean energy.

“Tens of thousands of clean energy jobs have been lost because of Trump’s tariffs and executive actions,” said Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power. “Now, some Republicans in Congress want to wage a full-blown war on clean energy, jeopardizing nearly 40,000 jobs that have boosted manufacturing in their own backyards. They’re willing to not only tank their local economies but also raise energy prices by hundreds of dollars on their own constituents.”

The 38 House Republicans who signed on to the letter are putting the following numbers of jobs and local investments at risk in their own districts:
