FLOTUS to Highlight Pittsburgh’s New Workforce Hub Thanks to Bidenomics

Pittsburgh, PA – After visiting Georgia, First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Pennsylvania to champion the work of Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey along with other city leaders and local businesses to transform the city into a hotspot for clean energy manufacturing. In May, the White House named Pittsburgh one of five “Workforce Hubs” committed to powering the economy by investing in renewable energy development.

Thanks to President Biden’s Clean Energy Plan, Pennsylvania has revamped its economy and become a hub for electric vehicles, solar, and battery manufacturing in recent years. Across the state, clean energy projects have already spurred $697.1 million in investment and created 1,157 good-paying clean energy jobs. While Pennsylvania has invested primarily in battery manufacturing, the state has also initiated projects in solar energy, electrical grid distribution and transmission, and other renewable technologies.

As these projects progress, President Biden’s climate plan will only continue to drive additional job creation, lower energy costs for families, invest in communities, and reduce climate pollution across Pennsylvania.
